Traceuse

Something happened this week that caused me to do away with all hesitations and fears and just go for the Movement course. In case I haven't described it before, I'm doing a Movement Basics course at a parkour and tricking gym that just opened up, and I'm friggin' stoked.

I went to my first class today, after much running around and stressing. It was awesome - I'm still feeling week and wobbly, and it ended three hours ago. I look forward to not being able to get out of bed in the morning due to soreness....

I also got a pair of Nike Freerunners, so I'll be running more often, and I've decided to take bellydancing starting next month and kung fu when I get the teacher's contact info.

Everything is amazing.

Parkour/Belly Dancing/Kung Fu

Following up the leads, guys. I know it's been a while since I said I was going to start doing all this stuff, but it's happening. I need it to happen. It's just one of those times in my life when I need to feel the burn of hard work and sweat on my brow.

Will update.

Friday I'm in Love

Yeah man, gettin' new running shoes soon. Then I'm gonna run. And jump. And flip.

...maybe. Seriously though, I hope to start the Movement Basics course next week to help me prepare for parkour and generally get me into shape. This week I'm sort of out of order, but my motivation is undoubtedly welling up. Soon, Eye of the Tiger will be swelling in the background and my life will become an epic montage of sweatbands and unnecessary poses.

You'll see.

3...2...1...

Well, here we have the beginning of a new journey.

My name is Sarah, I am approximately 5'9'', I weigh 130lbs, and I have some pretty hefty aspirations. I wouldn't describe myself as an athletic person. Not currently, anyways. A flattering description of myself might be, "light, lithe, and agile" whereas a non-flattering description might be, "as a cooked spaghetti noodle". Irrelevant.

This is the beginning of a majestic and epic quest to get myself in shape. I am participating in the 2012 Underwear Affair this year, which is a 10k run to raise awareness about below-the-belt cancers... I'm so pumped. Participating in a 10k run, though, means having the ability to participate in a 10k run. I'm workin' on that part.

It's also been a long-percolating aspiration of mine to become a traceuse: a practitioner of parkour. In almost perfect alignment with that, a parkour gym recently opened up about 40 minutes from here, and there's a conditioning class. The only obstacle that remains between me and my goals is me. I'm absolutely brilliant when it comes to making up excuses - my own inventiveness amazes me. Next week, I'll jump in.

Anyways, the purpose of this blog is to keep track of my goals, document progress, and serve as an album of unflattering pictures of me looking disheveled. And not in the good way. I'm a little nervous publishing this, knowing how silly it'll look if I let it fall to the wayside and have this as the only post, but... Maybe that's the push I need. Tomorrow, the planning begins, and next week, I'm gonna kick so much ass it's not even funny. Let's get 'er done. <3
